[Mechanics]: Sumo Deadlift

GOAL
Loading the hips and legs while maintaining and more upright chest for less back strain and more glute focus

1. Get like a sumo wrestler, aka legs wide
and toes pointing out. Leg width is
dependent on what feels
strongest/your leg length.
2. Push your knees outside of the bar,
ground yourself in your heel, rigid back,
and grab the bar.
3. Chest is as upright as possible, which is
pretty much the point of this exercise.
You're able to keep your chest up, push
the weight back into your hips, glutes,
and hamstrings and SQUEEZE.
Using the leverage on the bar, rock your
hips back and start pulling 10%. You'll
feel pressure in your lower glutes and
get rid of the slack from you to the bar.
4. Once you feel the tight position with
your abs braced THEN AND ONLY
THEN can you lift the weight.
5. Squeeze your glutes, push your knees out,
and drive your legs into the ground.
6. Don't overarch at the top. Just stand
until your shoulders are just behind the
bar. #RibsTucked

Sumo Deadlift

GOAL
Strengthen your leg drive with minimal spinal fading 

DETAILS
1. Feet position - Put them up high to stretch and work those hamstrings/glutes, or put them lower and closer together to smash those quads. 
2. Begin by pinning your shoulder blades into the pad, getting a proud chest, and setting your feet.
3. Un-rack the weight and lower slowly.
4. Keep the knees driving out slightly. Don't look like Bambi just coming out of the womb.
5. At the bottom, only go low enough where your lower back is still against the back pad.
6. Drive from heels to extend legs and don't lock out the knees fully at the top. We ain't tryna blow a knee.

Leg Press

GOAL
Hammer those hamstrings + test your joint alignment with maximal coordination needed 

DETAILS
1. Set a Landmine bar up.
2. Place a 4 inch box underneath to shorten range. 
3. Grab the end. 
4. Hinge at hip with knee slightly bent. 
5. Lower slightly leaning into the weight. 
6. Stand and squeeze. 
7. Reps are per leg. 

Pro-Tip: do single leg rdl with a barbell if you don’t have a Landmine.

Landmine Single Leg RDL

GOAL
Overload the quads. Modify for wider squat if you experience knee problems or lack the mobility. 

DETAILS 
1. Hold a dumbbell at chest height, 1-2' away from your body.
2. Stand tall, shoulders relaxed and contract your abdominals.
3. To squat down, bend your knees and let your hips follow, maintaining even pressure throughout your foot.
4. Maintain a tall posture the entire time.
5. To stand, think about pressing the floor away.

Dumbbell Cannonball Goblet Squat

GOAL
If you have good knees, welcome to a quad cryer. If you don’t, swap for leg extensions #Burner

DETAILS
1. Stand on a raised object. 
2. Toes down, knees push forward. 
3. Stay upright + SQUEEZE from quads. 
4. Slow on negative.

Cannonball Squat

Stability Light Work

GOAL 
Single leg squat but make it hard.. for that joint health + cardio. 

DETAILS
1. Grab a box that allows for you to control this movement. Aiming for a height where your hip and knees are parallel. 
2. Begin on one leg. Straighten the other one. Holding a kettlebell in both arms. 
3. Find balance. 
4. Sit hip back into a single squat. 
5. Move slow and controlled. Use arms to balance. 
6. Lower softly to box. 
7. Sit for a moment. Get the chest upright. 
8. Drive from your leg to stand. 
9. Repeat. Reps are per side. 

Note: use a trx or higher box if needed.

Weighted Pistol Squat to Box

GOAL
Anti-cankle life - I got thick ankles so I need to do extra. 

DETAILS
1. Stand tall with appropriate weight.
2. Hang heels on edge of platform. 
3. Begin by fully stretching the heel down.
4. Pause. Squeeze calves up to raise on tippy toes. 
5. Slowly lower to full stretch. Repeat. 
6. Do pulse reps to hit failure.
