The primary reason for the dynamic warm-up is joint integrity. The warm-up should gently prepare the body for exercises by gradually increasing the heart rate and circulation; this will loosen the joints and increase blood flow to the muscles. Stretching the muscles prepares them for physical activity and prevents injuries. The dynamic warm-up is extremely important after you have been stagnant and will significantly improve your form and correct muscle activation as you move with more confidence through the warm-up. Tip one of the most common mistakes I see with the dynamic warm-up is either skipping it all together or going through the motions. These movements are very intentional and my desire is that you experience feeling good in your workouts and in your body. Think about the muscles you’re releasing and activating. A lot of these movements I’ve picked up from Doctors of physical therapy and athletes. You can choose single or multiple dynamic warm-ups before your workout. If you have time, foam roll before your dynamic warm up.
