Welcome to our Battle Ready Workshop held at TrickStrong 8 on August 19. 2023 in Atlanta, GA. 

Have you ever realized that tricking battles don’t quite measure what they were created to measure?

The thinking is that a battle can determine who is more skilled at the sport of Tricking. However, skill is only one aspect of battling that can set you apart from your competition. 

In this workshop we have Mike Hom, tricking athlete and co-founder of Vertigo - the biggest tricking battle event in the US right now. Each year the bar is raised, and with it the strategies and practices used by top competitors to claim the prize. 
We go over best practices to physically and mentally prepare you for battle, using tried and true examples as well as evidence-based recommendations from the world of strength and conditioning. 
Then, we immediately apply those principles with 2 battle simulations between the TS8 guests. In round one, we have Thorn Anderson vs Royi Tsuk and in round two we have Ethan Turner vs Shaquan Parson. Both are exciting battles with many lessons. 
We can get better much more quickly if we study those before us. The battle simulations created some interesting discussion points in regards to physical preparation, combo construction, stage presence and strategy.
