Social Media Health Advice That’s Making You Bloated

I'm going to get straight to the point here! 1. Drink greens powders for better gut health. Greens powders are often full of prebiotics like inulin which can be a disaster if your gut issues are from an overgrowth of bacteria. Not to mention, too many greens means you're giving yourself a hefty dose of compounds like oxalates and goitrogens daily which can be aggravating to an already inflamed gut and prevent mineral absorption. 2. Take probiotics for better digestion. Similar to greens powders, probiotics are for introducing more bacteria into the gut. Most people with gut and skin issues have HIGH bacteria more often than low bacteria - meaning you're throwing fuel on the fire if you're dealing with gut dysbiosis or SIBO. Probiotics are NOT a one-size-fits-all, and different strains do different things. 3. Go low-sodium to beat the bloat. The only thing you can be sure of if you cut sodium from high-quality sources is that your stomach acid will drop, meaning constipation, bloating, and poor nutrient absorption, your energy levels will plummet and you'll have a much harder time absorbing other key nutrients like magnesium and calcium. We NEED healthy sodium for gut health. Avoid table salt because it’s stripped off of its nutrients and opt for sea salt - Celtic salt, Redmond’s salt, Himalayan salt. If you're blindly following advice off social media, there's a huge chance you're not actually doing what's right for you. Instead stick to eating whole natural foods, use these recipes to help you and move your body. If symptoms persist or get worse, go see a functional or integrative doctor/practitioner who will run functional tests to find the root cause of your symptoms.
