Tahitian Dancer & ‘Ori Fit Coach

‘Ia or na! Aloha! My name is Dylan Vincent @dylanvncnt Career Educator & Researcher, I left my 10 years teaching French to teach Tahitian dance and fitness full time. Recovered addict, dance & fitness played important roles in my healing and recovery journey. My coming-out as a dancer helped me achieve consistent practices of Gratitude, Self-Love & Self-Leadership. My philosophy is that dance is for all. It requires no gender, age, body type, race, color or creed. My workouts are designed to improve Body Awareness, Mobility, Flexibility & Functional Strength to facilitate dance training. These workouts have proven effective and engaging for even non-dancers. They have even converted some! The various exercises and workouts you will find here are meant to supplement your dance training. While I often incorporate movement from ‘Ori Tahiti, experience as a dancer is not required. This is even the best place to build healthy foundations to begin learning! The FA’ARAPU is the Most Recognized step in ‘Ori Tahiti (& in my opinion, all of Polynesian dance). It is only one part of what makes up the culture, history, artistry & uniqueness of this style of dance. I am nonetheless aware that Beginner dancers are quickly discouraged when learning this step. My FA’ARAPU workouts are Beginner-friendly and meant for you to build your foundations comfortably at your own pace. Goals
‘Ori Fit workouts were originally meant to supplement my own dance training. Coming into ‘Ori Tahiti in my 30s after many years as a competitive athlete, I found I was lacking the strength & conditioning to learn more advanced steps. Today, ‘Ori Fit has proven to be a comfortable way for Beginners to get started & for experience dancers to get in their extra reps. I use Mindfulness in coaching to help all participants find equal challenge & comfort during exercise.
Training Requirements
My workouts aren’t meant to be done in a space where you have comfortable space to Move & Be Vulnerable. The most equipment you’d need will be a comfortable surface for floor work exercises (ex. yoga mat) and for some upper body exercises, a t-shirt or exercises band. Mirror for self-correction is highly recommend though not required. Lastly, ‘Ori Tahiti is traditionally danced wearing a pareo/sarong. While not required for training, it does help get into the element! Barefoot encouraged!
