Welcome y’all!! You’ve probably heard the word mobility buzzing around the internet! So what is mobility? Is it different then flexibility and stretching? And is it simply a trend, or do you actually need mobility in your life? Mobility and flexibility are often used interchangeably, but in actual fact are not the same. Flexibility is the ability of your muscles to passively lengthen and stretch. Similar to a rubber band, the more flexible it is, the more easily it can be stretched. Mobility addresses how the joints actively move through their full range of motion in the body. Mobility AND flexibility are both beneficial to each other. By being flexible, we gives our bodies more access to move well within joints, and by being mobile we strengthen and stabilize our joints to safely move through stretching our muscles and other patterns of movement. The long and short is, research has shown that incorporating even a little bit of mobility into your day to day life significantly improves how we move about in this world, whether in everyday activities or prepping our bodies before a workout. My 5 Minute Mobility Challenge gives even the busiest of schedules a chance to incorporate mobility into their routines, and build up a toolbox of exercises you can utilize daily to be the most functional and sustainable version of yourself.

Yoga, Mobility and Mindfulness.

Hey lovely humans! I began yoga in early 2014 after I retired from 10 years of professional swimming and coaching. I was completely burnt out and had no idea what the next season of life looked like for me. I found yoga through Instagram and began participating in challenges which led me to teach myself and learn yoga from home over the course of a year. I later on went to get my 200 hour YTT, and also completed another 120 hours of a standing acrobatics and yoga certification. I graduated from another 500 hour advanced TT in April 2020. My flows are highly focused on core strength, and syncing your breath to your movement which I believe is the foundation to a functional and sustainable practice. We will spend time creating heat by moving slowly and intentionally through poses and transitions. I can’t wait to sweat with you all!
