Growing up on a sugarcane farm in South Africa meant spending a lot of time outdoors. Sports has always been a vital part of my life, for both enjoyment and stress relief. I became a model at 19 and soon learned that physical fitness was a key component of the job. In the beginning, I struggled to keep my weight under control. Even though I was working out and training hard my mindset was all wrong. I soon realized that making fitness and my health a priority meant changing my attitude towards why I was doing it. Instead of working out for a particular shoot or event and hating myself for not being where I wanted to be, I started doing working out for me! This new approach not only helped my body shape up quicker but helped immensely with my mental health too. My approach to food and diet changed as well, I now practice the 80/20 principle and find that less intense restrictions make life and treats far more enjoyable. By taking the pressure off I have found that making the right choices become much easier. We come into this life with only one body, taking care of it is the most loving and body-positive thing a person can do.
