As a former collegiate athlete, I’d like to say I’ve always had a deep respect for my body, nourished my body and mind like any excellent athlete you could think of, but in reality I spent most of my teens and early 20s struggling with my weight/size, yo-yo dieting, and my only coping mechanism for difficult things in my life involved food.
This created a very difficult relationship to food and my body. Because of my weight gain in college, my athletic performance began to suffer. I started losing confidence in myself which affected everything I did and created negative self talk and limiting beliefs. I knew I needed to break the emotional/binge eating and restrictive behavior but I didn’t know how.
Thankfully after working with a personal trainer, I began engaging in healthier behaviors and habits without any expectation of weight loss. I began to genuinely fall in love with the process of strength training, nourishing my body, and learning healthier stress management tools which of course resulted in the physical results I desired as a byproduct.
I’m extremely grateful today that I chose to get certified in personal training, work with 100s of women to lose the weight they desire and live a healthier lifestyle, while balancing motherhood. These are the exact style of workouts that completely transformed my body, helped me fall in love with exercise, and have a lot of fun doing it from home, or at the gym in 30 mins or less.
