Weightlifter, yogi, mom
Hi, my name is Vanessa! I am a mom, wife, and lover of striving to live and be my healthiest self. My health journey growing up has been all over the place. I didn’t quite understand what it meant to be healthy and in high school I had an eating disorder. I always struggled with exercising and thought that in order to look good I needed to be a twig, and to be doing copious amounts of cardio.
As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned the importance of nourishing and feeding your body. Also the empowerment that comes from weightlifting. During one semester in college, I lifted consistently and loved seeing the results. I moved a couple months later and kept up with running but not lifting.
After having my first baby I’ve slowly started weightlifting again and I have loved it more than I could say. It has given me so much confidence, helped me mentally, especially when I was struggling really bad with postpartum anxiety and depression. I have loved gaining my strength back and challenging/pushing myself to become a stronger, better version of myself. I also believe it has made me a better mother, wife, and friend and I plan on continuing this lifestyle so that I can feel good and also be present and active with my babies.
I plan on sharing weightlifting workouts along with one yoga class a week. It’s so important to me to give my body rest and take a step away from the world around me and to ground myself. Some yoga classes will be very relaxing and some more challenging. I challenge you to do them all! I can’t promise you change if you only workout once or twice a month, but I can promise that if you stay consistent and push through the hard days, sore days, or unmotivated days that’s when you will become someone you don’t even recognize. Someone stronger, better, and more resilient. You’ve got this!!
