Description: Flat Ball Screen Circuit

Understanding how to play within a ball screen is super important in today’s game. Today’s focus is on playing out of a high PNR.

The screen will be set with the screener’s shoulders angled towards half court.

Set up your defender by attacking towards the left side of the floor to set up your defender.

Exchange BTL or behind the back and come off of the screen for a 2 dribble pull up.

**1st set is w/ right hand • 2nd set is w/ your left hand • Reps = Makes**

Flat - 2 Dribble Pull

If the big has backed off of the screen and gives you space we want to look to attack them.

A quick in & our move it’s likely to force the big back on their heels. If they are on their heels they are not explosive.

Going to your right hand your footwork should be left-right-left.

Going to your left hand your footwork should be right-left-right.

**1st set is w/ right hand • 2nd set is w/ your left hand • Reps = Makes**

Flat - In & Out Pulls

If the screener’s defender is late to a hedge or is zoned off you may have space to attack back towards the side that you came from.

Push the ball over the top and step with your ball-side foot. 

Ex: Left to Right crossover - step with your left foot as you crossover. 

Skip off of that foot to help square your elbow to the rim.

Flat - Snake to Pull

If your defender gets over the screen and tries to fight to the inside of your body, use a turn dribble to bounce off of the contact and get to space.

To the right: Kick your left foot over the top

To the left: Kick your right foot over the top

Flat - Bounce Off

Typically when we go to the left we want to have the ball in our left hand… But there are times when we need to go in one direction and have the ball in the other hand.

In this situation we have our primary defender on our back and we need to protect the ball. If they end up fighting to our inside shoulder we can’t exchange the ball to that hand and are forced to keep it in our opposite hand.

Flat - Snake to Misdirection Swing Step

In a downhill attack we are often racing to a spot. If the defender beats us, we need a counter. In this look a Swing Step is going f to gives us 2 long strides downhill to get to the rim and finish.
