Ever wonder why players like James Harden shoot so many FT’s? 

#1 - They are not afraid of contact
#2 - They have mastered their pickups

Understanding when to pick the ball up is super beneficial in avoiding turnovers, but if you do it correctly, you can score more points at the foul line.

In this workout we focus on:
• Over the top pickups
• Kill (low) pickups
• Shooting pickups

We work on dribbling between our legs, but rarely do we work on dropping our hips when we do it. The circuit focuses on exactly that.

If a defender gets into our space, getting to a high pick up can be an effective way to avoid getting stripped.

Game Situation: High Pickup

Attacking downhill can present challenges when help-side defenders step up. Again, if you don’t have access to space in front of you we may have to utilize space above us with our pick up.

• Over the top pick up

Euro Step - Over The Top

• 1 dribble into a Euro step

Similar to a Euro step, a swing step gives us two steps after our last dribble. But instead of stepping laterally like we would on a Euro step, we swing our ball-side foot across our frame.

Swing Step - Kill Pickups

Getting a clean pick up can be the difference between making or missing a jump shot.

Again, our focus is on securing the ball cleanly as we rise up for a jumper.

I liked the shooting counter to the finishing, the defender will think you are going to drive, but then it is a wide open easy shot

I liked the counters to the defenders sliding and trying to cut off the lane

Day 13 - Drop Options Pt. 2

I liked the finishing circuit at the end to solidify the concepts that we went over today.
