What do coaches look for in strikers? Coaches look for strikers who are dangerous in front of goal — this means being accurate with your finishing/shooting, and making different runs inside of the box to get open and be available for crosses and passes in front of goal. Coaches also look for players who are good technically (first touch, passing, etc) and they also like players who are athletic with their acceleration, movement speed, and of course max sprint speed.
How do you improve your finishing/shooting? The answer is very simple: practice finishing/shooting in areas that you would be in during games, and use different techniques to finish/shoot so that you are comfortable using them in different situations in front of goal.
