Hello Beautiful People,
Odds are, if you are beginning this program, you are excited, anticipatory (and maybe a little nervous) to begin your journey of handstanding. I’m here to guide you on that journey and remind you along the way to keep a spirit of playfulness and curiosity. 🙋🏻♀️
Let’s back up for a moment though. I began yoga back in 2014 with no former experience in this wild and wacky world of strength, balance and flexibility. Yet one of my first memories of being captivated by the idea of yoga was going upside down. I watched other students and instructors find this moment of effortlessness in time and space that looked like magic…and maybe some sorcery. ✨👀
Now before you go off thinking that the ability to do a handstand has any merit in what does or does not make you a “yogi,” I’m here to assure you it does not. While handstands are ridiculously cool, fun and amazing to do, they truly do not make you more enlightened or a more advanced practitioner of the yoga practice. To me, they are simply a way to lighten up, move my body creatively and challenge myself to quite literally flip my perspective. 🪞
As you work your way through this program remember to ENJOY the journey. Truly. I know that saying is passed around a lot - but I want you to revel in the feeling of what it is like to be a beginner at something. It is a magical time. That feeling of making progress, finding your first few seconds of float time…those are precious moments to marinate in and celebrate. So whenever you find yourself getting frustrated or your practice not going as you expected, remind yourself that expectations are a thief of joy. You can’t possibly ever have the same practice twice, so enjoy what each day brings to you. You won’t ever get to experience it again! 🤸🏼♂️
I’m SO excited to see your transformations! Don’t forget to share progress photos in the community group or tag me on IG! 🙋🏻♀️
With so much love and playfulness,
Morgan
