If my abs don't hurt does it mean I'm not working them? Not at all! You get sore if you work a body part you haven't ever trained or trained in a while or you go heavier with the weight. You can still have a great workout and not get sore.
But make sure you are keeping your core engaged to really get the best out of every exercise.
