They are a tool to help you pick a weight that brings you close to failure —the point where you can't do another rep without compromising form. So if you get to the end of your set and have not reached that point, you need to keep going until you do. Then go heavier next time. Rep ranges are a GUIDE-NOT something to live and die by. If you get to that last prescribed rep and still have more left ... keep going until you don't. Idk about you but I don't want to do 20-30 reps of anything. So if you are pushing past your rep range, that's your clue to make a weight increase. The big key here is not to sacrifice your form. The concentric portion should involuntarily slow down. But you shouldn't be contorting your body or bringing in assistance from other muscles to help get additional reps. Let’s stop exercising & start training!
