What is Train Like Don?
Train Like Don is 5 of my exact workouts dropped every Sunday. Train like me. I start everyday with foam rolling and 10 minute dynamic warm up before starting my workout for the day.
What is important to me with program building?
My programming is designed to pack on muscle, shred body fat and build athleticism, all while working on mobility. I never sacrifice movement quality while putting on size. Suit Up represents the culmination of 20 years experience in the fitness industry. These programs use the same training principles I’ve used with my clients Ryan Reynolds, Sebastian Stan, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Krasinski, Liev Schreiber, & Zachary Levi.
What Equipment Do I Deed? How Can I substitute?
You will need access to a Gym. You will need access to machines, cables, barbells, dumbbell, kettlebells, & more. For people working out from home, substitute the machines for similar exercises with the free weights. i.e., you can substitute a Dumbbell Bent Over Row instead of the Cable Row.
How Can I Track My Progress?
Take progress pics at the beginning/end of each program. The scale will not show changes in body composition.
How do I know my form is correct?
Each exercise within the app has a video and exercise description. If you are still questioning your form, post a video on IG tag me #SuitUpWithDon #TrainLikeDon @donsaladino -I will correct your form, if there are any issues.
Can I combine days?
I would prefer that you only do this if you miss a day, and I would only combine a lift day with a cardio day.
Can I add cardio to your program?
You can add additional cardio to the program, as long as it does not decrease your energy for completing the workout or does not impact your recovery. Feel free, for instance, to run for 20 minutes before the workout. But if that decreases your ability to complete the workout, then try doing it afterwards instead.
Can I add more abdominal work to your program?
Additional ab work doesn’t mean that you will develop better abs. I always mix into the programs plenty of abs & core work. If you wanted to add one bonus ab day, though, I have no problem with that.
What should I do when one side is weaker than the next?
This is a common issue. Continue with your training and keep track of the weights. This will even out over time. Make sure that you are executing the reps optimally, with proper form. Quality over quantity.
How do I know when it is time to increase the weight.
If you complete your last set and you have the ability to complete an additional 3 reps, then it is time to increase the weight. Don’t be afraid to go heavy, as long as your form is not compromised.
Do you have any tips for increasing the weight when dumbbells are not available?
Resistance bands, a weighted vest, adding time under tension (TUT), and decreasing rest time in between sets are all great options.
