Who is Brandi Johnson? I’m from a small town in Georgia. I was never the most athletic girl but I always loved to wakeboard and snow ski. I never had any interest in picking up a weight or doing any form of exercise. It wasn’t until I had a friend ask me to go to a cross training class with her that I found my niche, that was in 2012. I competed in a couple of mud runs and then started doing CrossFit. I honestly wanted more, and that’s when I had someone reach out and say “you should compete in a bodybuilding competition as a bikini competitor.” That’s where it all started. In 2013 I started training for my first NPC show which would be in 2014. I placed 5th out of about 25 girls. I was hooked at this point. I competed again a few weeks later and placed 2nd. It was becoming more and more like my stress relief but yet it was still so much fun. In 2015 I competed a total of 4 times. 2 local NPC shows where I won in both and placed overall in one of them. The other two shows were national shows where I placed 12th and 8th. This whole competing thing was starting to be everything I’d ever dreamt of! It was fun and I started learning so much about myself. In 2016 I competed twice in national shows were I placed 4th at NPC JR Nationals and two weeks later didn’t place at all at NPC Universe. I wasn’t ready for the show mentally and my body showed it. Something in my body took a turn after and it wouldn’t be until the next year as I was studying to my Nursing Board exam that I’d find out. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2017. It’s been a struggle to get back to where I am today. With a lot of lab work, patience, dedication, and consistency, I am finally in a good place. Can I improve? Of course! But we are always a work in progress and it’s important to continue to work on our body’s and lives every day! That’s why I’m here, to help you on your journey!
