This four-stage programme teaches beginners how to build a secure forearm-supported headstand through progressive strength, mobility and technique practice. Each stage should be repeated until the progression test can be completed with control and without discomfort. The program will teach you how to enter the headstand without kicking up and instead learning a controlled entry.
Safety and suitability
Practise on a firm mat in a clear space. Stop immediately if you experience neck pain, tingling, dizziness, headache or changes to your vision. Do not turn the head while it is loaded.
Seek medical advice before participating if you have a current neck or spinal injury, cervical disc problems, glaucoma or a retinal condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, vertigo, or if you have been advised to avoid inverted positions.
